NobleGamer Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Review

Jun 13, 2025
I can recommend this to anyone that likes Stealth FPS and doesn't expect an elaborate storyline. Stealth and the universe presented gave me just as much enjoyment as Human Revolution, despite the open world and the main story being a mixed bag. Look up other gameplay videos if you are interested, because the videos on the store page are poor at showing gameplay. Here is what you need to know: +The look and sounds of this game are largely beautiful. Minor exception would be the cutscene video quality which is locked at 30 FPS. I would've rather had everything be realtime, but that's easy to say when I have a RTX 3080 with a 1440p 165Hz monitor. One minor to moderate distraction though... -The mouth movements of the characters seemed somewhat off and full body reactions in conversation got repetitive, more than other modern games. I wasn't expecting LA Noire level face captures. Also after 1-2 dozen hours into the game, I noticed that the same set of full body expressions would occasionally be reused not just in different conversations but also within the same conversation. ?The normal/default difficulty doesn't provide a huge challenge, especially with the amount of items & powerups you can collect and/or combine. So unless you get tired of retrying certain areas because you are dying, I would go with the higher difficulty. I could have gone either way. +Most equipment, weapons, and abilities are well balanced. +Prague, locations, and the universe of Deus Ex are all well crafted, with the only exception being... ?Some open world elements seem repetitive such as jumping in some apartment window or breaking into a storefront, then hacking their laptop for information. A number of these and any possible "collect the things" are very often optional. +Stealth and the means of it are varied and awesome. The whole point-to-see-where-you will-move-to works fairly well. -The main storyline is somewhat intriguing in the beginning to middle, but closer to the end it gets relatively simple with one obvious bad guy/bully. This was only mild disappointment for me. A video or two during the credits attempt to make the ending a little more like the ending of Human Revolution. ?Choices that matter seem to largely be some nuanced character interactions, 1-2 choices between missions, and a series of news events that you watch on TV at the end of the game or some during a playthrough. +A decent variety of enemies and their abilities provide notable challenge. +Sufficient opportunities for emergent gameplay where some areas can be accessed not just in multiple ways but potentially unintended ways. +Being able to use various individual objects in order to generate noise and/or climb onto is extremely useful. ?On the final mission, expect for a minor beginning task to fail no matter how you approach it. ?Game was relatively bug free when I played it when I did not overclock my 5600X CPU. When I did overclock it by what amounts to a few hundred MHz, the game would crash about once an hour with no error message or known logs. ?I didn't play Deus Ex Breach - It just seemed like a faceless & stripped down flavor of main missions of sorts. ?Micro transactions or solicitation of them were not annoying and did not interfere with gameplay.
