NobleGamer BattleTech Review
Jun 12, 2025
As a player of tabletop Battletech, it is clear that the original creator (Weisman) made this for us through his dev shop (Harebrained Schemes, bought by Paradox). How close this is to table top may be a turn off for anyone who doesn't like RNG via hit %, these mechs being innately slower in their actions, and a lot that can be managed or repaired for mechs. There have been numerous patches that help quality of life like automatically or manually speeding up gameplay, which was helpful for me. I've gotten plenty of gameplay out of the Campaign alone which is relatively open in your choices, but there's a clear quest/mission line that advance a decent primary story. It seems that shortly after launch the game was stacked against lighter mechs, but it appears that they've done much more balancing that makes lighter mechs more viable against heavies or assaults.
