NobleGamer Jurassic World Evolution Review

Jun 13, 2025
I recommend the game on sale to most gamers who really enjoy scenario or goal-driven simulation/management and appreciate the Jurassic Park/World IP, as contracts/missions/islands provide ample challenge & reward. JWE is a beautiful looking game which many gamers are comparing to "what could be" given the JP/JW franchise games thus far, the Planet Coaster sim game by the same dev, and all other sim games - Resulting in the park management & dino simulation aspects being criticized as too simple, and JWE being subject to just as much or more scrutiny than most other sim games. I do NOT recommend the game to people who need to express creativity through high levels of customization, or gamers that are hardcore about either sim/mgmt games or hardcore about the JP/JW IP - Because I think those are the people who have the greatest potential to be disappointed by the game. Here is what you need to know: +Did I mention this game is gorgeous and runs well for me? If you have an NVIDIA card, you can also enjoy Ansel features for 360 pictures and other unique free camera no-UI in-game shots. My rig meets Recommended specs except for my CPU (i5-3470), and I get 60fps @ 1080p High most of the time when I'm not bottlenecked by my CPU. ? Park management comes down to placement of buildings, structures, and dinosaurs far more than the relatively limited configuration or customization compared to the most in-depth management games out there. The more elaborate customization elements of the game are dino DNA, building upgrades (the same type can be used multiple times on the same building), gyroscope/ball trails, terrain, and transportation (walking paths & monorail). + Unlock progression of dinos/tech/buildings throughout the game was good, but beyond unlocking all islands... ? The newer Challenge modes/Jurassic difficulty appear to have only skin unlocks. Many unlocked skins are limited to certain dino species. So I personally am not motivated to play Challenge mode, but some people may enjoy the heightened difficulty and the race to make a 5 star park. - Leveling terrain BEFORE placing buildings can be important if you want to minimize the "Terrain Constraints" error shown in realtime when determining where you can place a building. After you place a building, its terrain height cannot be changed, and there's a limit to how steep terrain slopes can be. So if you have a building on high terrain, but want to put a building next to it on lower terrain, you may have to put lots of space between the two buildings because of the limitation of terrain slope. ? The comparison to mobile games comes primarily from the game having a ~3 minute waiting period between requesting contracts which provide extra cash & reputation with one of 3 park departments, but they are also offered automatically on occasion by the game. I have not yet read a viable solution to this contact request timing that would re-balance contracts and removes the time restriction. ? Various forms of building & research all take time but I think they would take some time in any other management game as well: Building construction, repairs, fossil excavations, DNA extraction, research of new stuff. Therefore, those should not contribute to the mobile-ness of the game as long as there are no microtransactions associated with them (which thankfully there aren't any). ? There aren't many advanced social behaviors of dinosaurs like pack hunting or natural breeding, but there are some notable behaviors about 10 sim-like attributes for dinos and there are alpha dinos & non-alphas who can fight to take dominance. Dino social compatibility kinda simple: Mixing carnivores with herbivores and even some carnivores with carnivores will result in combat if incompatible dinos are mixed together. If any of the dino attributes fall below the dino's threshold in that attribute, then its comfort level starts to fall, and if its comfort falls below its comfort threshhold, then it panics & starts destroying walls (seems to be ones closest to guests). The more aggressive the animal, the lower their comfort threshhold tends to be (raptors are on the low end). ? Most DLC seems weak except maybe the Dr Wu DLC since it adds a couple islands/scenarios, but I'm going to wait on a sale for that.
