nppz Hollow Knight: Silksong Review
Sep 14, 2025
This is the game I've been the most excited for in my whole life. My expectations were sky-high and somehow they were still completely blown out of the water.
This is the most comprehensive and polished 2D action platformer ever created. The world goes on forever, the movement and combat are fast and silky-smooth with a high skill ceiling, platforming challenges, enemies and bosses ever increase in difficulty and mechanical complexity.
The visuals, sound-design and music are literally second to none in the genre. Every corner of every room is uniquely detailed, the soundscape is crisp, reverberating in accordance to the type of space the action takes place in. The soundtrack is gorgeous and varied, the layers of tracks are dynamically implemented so that the music follows the progression of the tone of the scene.
As someone who greatly appreciated the lore and story of the original game, I adored the new cast of characters and the sheer amount and density of dialogue and interactions Hornet has with the residents of Pharloom. I was invested in seeing all of their stories through to the end.
All of this capped off with a perfect ending that nearly brought me to tears. This might be my favorite game.
