oji Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak Review

Reasonably interesting game. About the ideal amount of units, which only maybe 1 or 2 you won't be using later in the game.
I liked the story even though I wish it would have revealed more from the lore.
The game doesn't have a good mechanics for controlling the units considering placement of those were crucial to effectively attack of guard certain location. You had to either hope that selected units would position themselves as best as they could, or move them one by one. Working with unit grouping also wasn't ideal, cause it took a lot of clicking moving units between groups. You couldn't dissolve a group of units, only add or subtract from that. After mission 3, you were pretty much set for success, cause using the air units is essential. Air units sometimes behave too independently and don't follow your orders. It's also not clear, when they're out of ammo and must return back to the base. Bombers especially were made me tear my hair of, cause I to this day don't understand why does them take so long to attack, which leads to them being shot down.
You can keep all the units, that you previously create without building them from scratch. This means all their experience is transferable across the missions, which makes the game much easier, than if you had to build them all again.
You can devour all the resources from the mission map, if you save a lot. Certain actions in game triggers a mission ending before allowing you to pick up all the resources.
I rather enjoyed the game, but I'm not coming back to it again. It's one trick pony and the unit control is annoying.
There's important fact, which is not mentioned in the game tutorial or in keyboard settings. You can pause the game with "p", to have better control over battlefield.
