optik Crimson Desert Review

Mar 27, 2026
Crimson Desert is the definition of a "diamond in the rough." While it currently suffers from some of the most jarring onboarding and narrative delivery I’ve experienced in an open-world game, the sheer level of immersion it offers is something very few titles have ever achieved. It provides a truly "endless world" that begs you to simply pick a direction and get lost in its atmosphere. The sense of "wander" and discovery here is so powerful that it consistently manages to overcome the game’s more frustrating technical and design lows. On the technical side, the game is a visual powerhouse but surprisingly well-optimized for high-end hardware. Running an Intel 14600k paired with an AMD RX 9060 XT (16GB) and 16GB of RAM, I’m seeing a rock-solid 60 FPS at 1800p (3200x1800). I’ve dialed the settings to a mix of Ultra and Cinematic, and with FSR 4 set to Quality, the image is incredibly sharp and stable. Playing this on a 55-inch TV in a living room setup is a transformative experience the scale of the world feels massive and the lighting is top-tier. It isn't perfect, though. The controls aren't exactly intuitive right now, though it’s clear Pearl Abyss is already active in patching and refining the response times. My biggest gripe currently is the User Interface; it is way too small for a couch-gaming setup. It reminds me a lot of The Witcher 3 at launch a game that eventually fixed its readability issues with a patch allowing for UI scaling, and I’m hopeful we’ll see a similar update here soon. Despite the rough edges and the confusing initial hours, the feeling of exploring this world is unmatched. If you can push past the clunky tutorials and the weak story introduction, there is a legendary experience waiting for you.
