8.5 / 10.0 - F1 2021
Jul 27, 2021

Ahh F1 2021, so nearly perfect. To me, F1 2021 was a bit like going on a first date with someone who seems absolutely made for you in every way. They’re gorgeous, funny and even pay the bill, but then you find out they think Star Wars is rubbish.

9.5 / 10.0 - Returnal
Jul 27, 2021

Returnal is the game the PlayStation 5 needed. It demonstrates every aspect of the new console’s technical prowess and sets the standard for future games. On top of that, it packs in a thoroughly enticing story with fantastically fluid gameplay.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is imperfect. The repetitious and unoriginal nature of its gameplay does hold it back and might be a deal breaker for some. Even if it is technically sound. But I would still recommend it for its story and atmosphere alone.

In trying to capture the best of both worlds, Resident Evil Village is a game of two halves. And they are equally hindered by their jarring differences and incompatible foundations.

5 / 10.0 - Wreckfest
May 7, 2021

Wreckfest is a distinctly average racing game, with some notable fun to be had in its demolition-focused game modes. You might get a few laughs out of the novelty vehicles, too.

3 / 10.0 - Stranded Deep
May 5, 2021

If you persevere, there may be some small enjoyment to be found in Stranded Deep. After all, it is (mostly) functionally playable. But most, including myself, won’t be in a hurry to load it up again after their first few hours.

Valhalla would’ve benefited from being smaller in scope. This is something that is blatant throughout. Even at 20 hours in (a third of the overall 60-hour length), the game begins to feel repetitious.
