PanicKing Lies of P Review

Exceptional combat, great enemy and boss design, moody atmosphere, and memorable locations. This really is one of the best Soulslikes ever made, and in my opinion, easily clears the bar that FromSoftware has established for the genre. Yes, many of Lies of P's elements are derivative of the FromSoft formula, but the execution and care of those elements is top tier. There are plenty of unique mechanics that make this game stand out from other Soulslikes. Weapon modifications, fable arts and the P-Organ skill tree, and the legion arm add self-expression into how you want to approach these challenging enemies. While these mechanics do exists in other games, it's their well-executed combination that elevates this experience. The story, compared to other Soulslike games, is presented in a much more straightforward fashion. Environmental storytelling is still present and speaks volumes, but you won't have to go through item descriptions and cryptic dialogue in order to piece together a grand narrative. Lies of P's story is much more straightforward, which for me was a nice change of pace.
