Pistonpants Crimson Desert Review

Apr 2, 2026
Crimson Desert is a genre bending game that asks it's players to learn how to play it on its own ruleset. Unfortunately, this will be too great a task for many players (especially Journo reviewers), and will function as a de facto intelligence test, as evident by reviews of "0", "trash", or "unplayable". It also asks you not to use Intel GPUs. The controls are not intuitive, but they are absolutely functional, and even logical when considering the myriad play mechanics presented. You will learn this fact after many hours of play. You have to be able to learn how to play the game, like games used to do before every game became accessibility simulators. For those of you able to learn new tricks, Crimson Desert is a dream come true. For those of you who can't, you will fail the test and be filtered out. It's not yet perfect, but if Pearl Abyss continues to refine a few small QOL features, it will quickly become legendary to those worthy of the experience, and rival the longevity of Skyrim.
