Pixel Crit Split Fiction Review

Dec 1, 2025
Since Split Fiction released back in March, I’ve found it difficult to put my finger on how I feel about it. As a video game, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in a Hazelight game. There are some incredible moments, basically every area has at least one. You’re constantly introduced to fresh gameplay ideas, as this game overflows with creativity. With so much quality crammed in, you can’t help but have a blast as you play. Despite that, the story is underwhelming, with characters that dislike each other and constantly allow their own bickering to get in the way of the fun. You’ll be enjoying a fantasy level, when suddenly Mio decides she needs to **** all over it because it’s ‘stupid’ to her. Every time you want to enjoy something in this game, it seems like one of the characters is quick to explain why they hate it. Ultimately, people will have a lot of fun with Split Fiction, myself included in that. Despite my issues with the characters, you’re more likely to be having a blast with your partner as you play anyway. If you can ignore the grating character work, you’ll enjoy level after level of some of the most creative gameplay sequences you’ll have experienced in a video game.
