Pixel Crit Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Review

Dec 1, 2025
Death Stranding 2 is a very strong video game, from a technical standpoint. At times, you’re absorbed by this gorgeous world and helping rebuild it as you deliver items to aid distribution centers is an addictive loop. Narratively though, this game is a complete mess. Maybe that will come across as harsh, but it felt like Kojima was figuring out each story beat as they played out. Sam is a passenger in his own story, which is extremely disappointing after experiencing his journey in the first game. A lot of the game’s biggest moments seemed to be created before Kojima had even figured out what the scene was trying to tell us. In spite of that though, the gameplay is fantastic, just about succeeding in being a great game overall, despite the incoherent story trying its best to weigh it down.
