Pretzel Jones Cronos: The New Dawn Review

Jul 28, 2026
Cronos: The New Dawn nails that suspense in a way I wasn’t expecting. It’s the quiet moments that get you most, just walking through some abandoned outpost with nothing happening, and that silence does more work than any jump scare could. The “burn it before it merges” mechanic keeps every fight tense too, since one bad call means whatever you just downed comes back stronger. Ran into some frame rate hiccups early on that smoothed out as I kept playing, and the story doesn’t over-explain itself which honestly works in its favor. By the back half I was fighting the same handful of monster types a bit too often, but that quiet dread it builds is what’s sticking with me.
