Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, besides being the first in the series, is also the first one I’ve tried to play.
The experience itself wasn’t bad. For a game released in 1996, its graphics, sound, and gameplay hold up. And the story seems good, with the interesting twist of not being your typical goody-two-shoes protagonist.
However — and this is the main issue — that’s about it. It feels like they did the bare minimum, leaving a game that could have been much better... kind of boring.
I’d love to see and try a remake of this title, which really shows promise.
But for now, the laziness I feel every time I try to play it — combined with the long list of other games waiting to be tested — just doesn’t make it worth the effort.
Not to mention that Good Old Games’ platform is the worst: it lags, freezes, resets… you name it.
So, for the price, nostalgia, and symbolism, I do recommend it — but without much excitement.
