It’s incredible! I haven’t felt like this since Cyberpunk! I finished both the first and second runs in two days and, considering this is a horror game, that’s amazing (even if it was on ultra-easy). Alright, let’s calm down and try to analyze this properly. Some time ago, I decided I wanted to play all the Resident Evil games in chronological story order. That’s how I finished Zero — which I liked — and then the first one in HD, which became one of my favorite games ever. But both had mechanics that could’ve been improved, long transitions, and small issues I attributed to their age. That’s where this Remake comes in. Wow. Right away, I noticed similarities to RE4 on the PS2, which used to be my favorite. But because of its age and console limitations, it eventually fell behind. First of all: the graphics. GORGEOUS. Absolutely beautiful to look at. Then there’s the oppressive atmosphere and the puzzles — preserved, but improved. Once again, even on easy, it’s challenging! But the real change lies in the mechanics: the over-the-shoulder camera, the smoother transitions, the character movement — everything that once felt a bit stiff now feels fluid and natural. That obviously enhances the constant tension throughout the game. And as always, the story is captivating. It follows the original’s structure, but optimized. This game hooked me so much that I did something I normally never do: a second run with another character, to experience the other side of the story. And I didn’t regret it at all. As if that wasn’t enough, you gradually unlock new game modes with parallel and/or alternative mini-storylines. Well, if it wasn’t clear already, RE2 Remake is now my favorite in the series… So far, since I immediately jumped into the RE3 Remake right after — and that one is already looking extremely promising!!! Even if you’re not a hardcore fan, I highly recommend it. Seriously.
