Roy_batty_place Silent Hill 2 Review

It’s a good game. In my opinion, adding more puzzles and expanding certain sections (I especially appreciated the Heaven’s Night area) was a good idea, but they definitely stretched some parts too much. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but original ps2 Silent Hill 2, with its horror/oniric/ deep symbolist atmosphere (reminiscent of Lynch’s films), often thrived on what was left unsaid or unexplained.I think the lack of combat in the original meant something; maybe the various types of creatures weren’t the offenders but the victims instead. And I also think that the original compensates with a more complex sound design and more prominent music. When you try to explain everything, you leave no room for interpretation and unnecessarily prolong the narrative. Leaving aside all the talking she does, Maria's impact on the game is much smaller. They censored her provocative behavior and flirtatious attitude. In the original, regardless of how she’s dressed, she seems to be a stripper. Her role is to represent James’s sexual desires, provoke him, and make him feel guilty. The one seem to me more a sweet spirtual guide. The remake is a real survival horror with a lot of unavoidable combat (on hard mode it’s challenging) and politically correct on certain issues, whereas the original was more calm, psychological and complex. On the internet more than one person has opened topics on these subjects. I think many people have not played the original or didn't experience it at the time
