shl0opy Stranger Things 3: The Game Review

Nov 23, 2025
I played Stranger Things 3: The Game for around 30 hours, with my boyfriend and that’s the main reason I kept going. I don’t think I would’ve lasted this long on my own. The game is fun. Really. But it’s also very… unnecessary at times. There are good moments, but also many parts that feel like filler, stretching time between one combat section and the next. The dialogue choices are the biggest example of that: two different options that lead to the exact same line. It feels pointless, like fake roleplay that doesn’t matter. And regarding accuracy to the show — some scenes follow season 3 perfectly, while others feel like random additions. It creates a strange inconsistency. Combat can be fun, but sometimes it’s just too much. Too many enemies, too much button-mashing, and moments where the game explains absolutely nothing and expects you to guess. The puzzles are cute, sometimes a bit much, but fine. The strongest impression the game leaves is that it’s just… average. Not bad, not terrible — just very standard. The pixel art is nice, the music is fine, but nothing made me reconnect with the characters. If anything, it made me like some of them a bit less. The game doesn’t do justice to the show. There’s no emotion, no tension, no horror. Still, it’s fun to play with a friend. It’s cozy, it fills time, it’s not painful, just not particularly good. In the end, the show is much better, and the game doesn’t add anything meaningful to it.
