Shuanshuan Schrödinger's Call Review

Visual novels have this stigma where it's often dismissed as not being engaging enough to be considered a game. In fact it is often even a notch below the "walking simulators" genre since you are engaging mostly via text instead of cutscenes, which creates a higher barrier of entry for non-readers.
If you are fortunate enough to be among the few who can enjoy a good visual novel without going through dopamine withdrawal, you are in for a treat with Schrodinger's Call.
I finished this game over 10 hours which is about how long it takes me to read a ~600 page fiction novel. It is an extraordinary experience because of the surreal visual style and ethereal soundtrack that kicks in at the most fitting moments.
I think what keeps the experience from being perfect is the absence of voice acting which was limited by the budget. The developer had a clever workaround for it, but I think voice acting, delicately implemented at certain points in each chapter, would have elevated the experience even further.
