Sunrise Parabellum Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream Review
Aug 8, 2025
Eriksholm is a visual and technical showcase that makes a strong 1st impression. From the opening cutscenes, it’s clear the developers poured immense care into the presentation. The facial animations are impressively expressive, the lighting and shadow work is top tier, and the overall graphical fidelity is consistently striking without feeling overdone. Even more impressive is how well it runs for a UE5 title (high fps/ no stutters) and a general smoothness that’s all too rare in modern releases.
The game’s design keeps things fresh. Levels are varied and smartly constructed, introducing new mechanics often enough to avoid repetition. The pacing is tight, and it’s easy to jump back into past chapters and subsections to track down missed collectibles. Reloads after failure are near instant and the intuitive controls paired with excellent camera work make for a smooth frustration free experience. The soundtrack fits the atmosphere perfectly and complements the thickening mystery as the story progresses.
Unfortunately, not everything lands as well as the visuals and gameplay. The narrative, while engaging here and there, feels underwhelming in the bigger picture as its potential is never quite fully realized. As a tiny nitpick, the first cutscene features Herman with a thick british accent being difficult to follow without subtitles.
That being said, Eriksholm stands as a polished and engaging adventure that respects your time and delivers a consistently enjoyable experience. This is an easy recommendation if you value great presentation, varied gameplay and tight optimization.. just don’t expect its story to linger in your mind the way its visuals will.
