I did not enjoy my time with undertale. The only positive thing I can say is that the music is banging. It might honestly be a result of having every tune from this game blasted at me in every YouTube video I've ever watched. Its a testament to the quality of the tunes that even after hearing them over and over and over again, I still enjoyed the tracks in this game.
Maybe it is a situation where the community has hyped this game up so much to a point where my expectations were astronomically high for a one man made indie game, or the fact that the writing and humour is from a time I want to leave in the past. I'm sure if younger me had picked this game up, he would have had a fun time and have put this as one of his favourites.
However I picked it up recently, and the 8 or so hours it took to complete it felt like a slog, and at times, my eyes were getting tired of the amount of rolling they were doing listing to the dialogue. I don’t mind the art style, the story was passable but the characters really let it down for me.

I lack the determination to enjoy this, despite how much I really wanted to.

Undertale is surely the best thing humanity has every created.
The characters sometimes are really annoying. I also hate Alphys so much. But its understanding every monster's imperfectness and learning what they have gone through.
It is not hyped up because it was made through Gamemaker with only 1 developer. It is hyped up because you get to really think deep about your choices in the game and your life. Maybe try playing the same route again and again without using dialogue skipping. You will think about a lot in your life.
