Tahseen Hollow Knight: Silksong Review
Mar 26, 2026
I was late to the Hollowknight party and late to Silksong as well. At least I didn't have to wait for years to play the game. Finished Hollowknight and went straight to Silksong, and in my opinion, Silksong is everything I’d want from a sequel. It’s just more Hollowknight and I love that. More story, characters, enemies, challenges and the whole lot has been upgraded. Sure it took some getting use to the controls and newer mechanics but one I got the hang of it I never wanted to look back.
The knight was a great character but for me but I prefer Hornet. I fell like it all comes down to one issue I had with the og game, the story and how it was presented. The knight never spoke a word, never really interacted with the world and the characters around him in a way that I would have liked. I wanted more from the knight but I understand why they couldn’t do that. Hornet on the other hand has no such limitations and I love it. She can interact with the world in a much more natural way and it helps so much with the story in the long run. I love hearing her thoughts and seeing her emotions throughout the story. This type of character really ties in well with the way the lore of the game is portrayed. It’s still a little bit vague at time but I could actually follow what's going on without having to deep dive into some youtube vids.
Actual gameplay wise, the difficulty is ramped up a bit, but its not as bad a day 1. I was more than happy with it, frustrated at time sure, but I was more than content to master the mechanics and get good. Some bosses and enemies felt a bit over-tuned but I pushed through and am happy in doing so. I liked the new crafting system in concept, however it did get tedious and annoying once I was out of shards and had to buy em or put a boss fight on hold to go grind for more.
All in all, 20quid for this masterpiece? With free DLC coming too? 10/10 would silk again.
