taterchips Sonic Superstars Review
Dec 2, 2024
It's not the worst game I've ever played. But it's surprisingly lackluster for something that frankly should have been a slam dunk. It faithfully carries over the controls and physics from Mania, but everything else feels poorly considered. The level design is nondescript and overextended, the bossfights are incredibly tedious, and even the art is lackluster and lacking in identity. There are maybe two unique zone concepts in this game. The gimmicks are half-baked and don't add a lot to the experience. I appreciate playable Amy, and the addition of Trip, who is very cute and a fun enough character to play as. But that's about it. I can't say I'd really recommend it. I honestly feel like there are a lot of fan games that could give you a better classic Sonic experience if you're tired of replaying Mania.
