taterchips Hollow Knight: Silksong Review

Oct 14, 2025
This game was everything I wanted and more from a sequel to one of the best games ever made. The only real flaw is that it takes a couple hours to get going. But when it does, it's absolutely untouchable. In every way it expands and improves on its predecessor. The level design is packed even tighter with secrets, and punctuated with incredible setpieces. The combat is tighter and more dynamic. The storytelling manages to be more direct and character driven, while not sacrificing the opaqueness that made the first game so fun to dive into. The whole package is so much grander and more ambitious. The sheer quanitity of everything, from enemy types, to bossfights, to hidden areas, to characters, to subplots and npc questlines, is miraculously nearly perfectly matched by the quality of it all. To put it simply, Hollow Knight: Silksong is yet another instant classic, and a new all-timer for me.
