Thrav Blue Prince Review

Unfortunately, I can not give this game more stars. At first, you're absolutely blown away by the ideas and creativity of the puzzles. As someone who loves puzzle games, ranging back to the old Dracula games on PS1, I was ecstatic, not to mention the great rogue-like element to it.
Unfortunately, this faded fast once you realize the game's main content gating is..... RNG. More specifically, keys. At the end of the day, this game is a key simulator, and attempting to avoid locked doors. Now, this wouldn't be so much of an issue, since there are ways around it. Unfortunately, those ways are also..... RNG. At all fronts, you're combating RNG.
I'm on day 58. By this time, I know what I need to do, I'm almost done. I have room 46 open on day 48, I've done the puzzles a thousand times; they become increasingly difficult, so as you progress, you feel LESS rewarded since you have to spend MORE time on certain puzzles, you've already solved a million times, with the same rewards.
I eventually broke down and followed all the strat guides. Unfortunately, whatever strategy you do, it's unlikely to increase you % to reach the end by a significant amount. In fact, I found that the strats and guides show how you're forced to only play the game one way.
I felt like I was fighting to PLAY the game.
Honestly, it's a shame the reviews are so high imo. The industry keeps avoiding the issues with RNG gaming and it's mostly do to developers wanting to add "fluff" to the game in order to keep you playing. Carrot on a stick so to speak but the carrot is a baby carrot and it's likely rotten by the time you reach it.
Advice I constantly see is, "Keep playing! You'll reach it eventually!" Yes, that's not exactly a revelation here. What game is that not true with, even more so with a game designed around rng elements.
tl;dr If you're looking for a challenging puzzle game that you won't necessarily finish in 40 hours, having to replay content you've done 1000 times and combating rng like it's a 1990's mmo, this is the game for you.
Pros
Puzzle Creativty
Suspenseful
Cons
Puzzle Creativty
Suspenseful
