True meaning of storytelling. It blends human emotion with the grit of a post apocalyptic world where the player is met with Joel, an ex-father and smuggler grown cold and lifeless throughout the dreadful years following his daughters death, finds himself taking on a job to deliver a cure for the disease that caused the outbreak across America, however, this cure is a young girl named Ellie. As the story progresses, the player can feel the weight of Joel and Ellie’s past and also live through grief and regret alongside the two. As Joel traverses the country with her, he starts to see Ellie as more of a daughter rather than a package, and this creates an attachment to their dynamic. Ellie also learns to lean on Joel as her father figure and to trust him. Themes such as fatherhood, responsibility, grief, endurance and survival paint a story handcrafted with love and care.
