Token Umbrella Corps Review

Nov 21, 2024
This past week, I bought the Deluxe Edition of Umbrella Corps (question my life decisions later please), which didn't even include the Fashion Victim Pack for some odd reason but regardless the Deluxe Edition is... worth it-ish? Take it for what you will. Yes, this is an extremely poor effort shown by Capcom, with an obvious lower budget as opposed to whatever Operation Raccoon City was, by no means is it a really giving a 'bad multiplayer experience', it is actually fun in some ways (as long as you try winning against high leveled chinese sweats that farm the game using afk accounts and other 'strategies'); it has a solid foundation that wasn't properly explored upon because of the game's horrible reputation and abandoned development early on. I've never played Operation Raccoon City, so I can't really compare it to Umbrella Corps (Games for Windows Live was a nightmare!), but it's got everything such as nice customization, variety of weapons, this and that. Multiplayer is VERY subjective, because it's incredibly fast-paced because Capcom wanted to replicate the 'western market' of e-sports games, and since it's made in-house which probably meant a much smaller team, and using a completely different engine as the RE Engine wasn't fully utilized at the time, and also it wasn't considered to be used for Umbrella Corps, does it excuse the quality of the game? Half of it, not fully! Just half.
