TommyD100 Life is Strange: Before the Storm Review

It falls short on every level after playing through the Life is Strange (the first game). There's less gameplay here, a thinner story that lacks the mystery, conspiracy, and character developments that happen in the first game. Not having the rewind ability reduces gameplay and puzzle solving to a minor inconvenience just to get to another lengthy conversation that often drag on longer than they need to. The performances were not all great, except for the two main characters. Yes, Life is Strange (the first game) is a great point and click adventure with a unique twist using the rewind ability, and I wanted to stay in this world and revisit locations and interact more with the characters, so I really wanted to like this prequel. Unfortunately, the writing and story isn't deep or interesting enough to remain locked into the characters from an emotional standpoint, which is something that happens in the first game.
