Torak Split Fiction Review
Oct 5, 2025
This very well could be my game of the year.
We had an amazing time playing through this exceptional coop action-adventure game. My Fiancée and me have gone through all of Josef Fares games to completion and this is without a doubt his best work.
My two favourite genres for storytelling are both front and centre with mystical fantasy and futuristic sci-fi. The environment design and level story telling were immaculate. Each of the 'Stories' were super fun and engaging with both of us having different abilities to help each other get through the missions. Although it does feel like Player One gets the slightly more exciting powers, Player Two still has a great time. The 'Side Stories' were also really cool as well, taking inspiration from even more themes like a childs sugar rush and a 2d notebook doodle.
One of my favourite things about this game is that throughout the levels, there's usually a section that changes the game genre completely. The whole game is predominantly action-adventure, but expect to find these sections turn into side scrollers, metroidvania, puzzle and even sports racing thrown into the mix.
The characters are well written and have a decently compelling background to define them, the overarching story is fairly relevant and it goes without saying, it's really fun.
