Vaa Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Review
Aug 2, 2025
Death Stranding 2 is an ambitious game that gets lost in its own confusing mythology and a story that mistakes being complicated for being deep. While the first game stood out with its originality and bold style, this sequel feels like it’s drowning in cryptic dialogue and empty symbols, as if every scene is trying too hard to scream, “Look, it’s Kojima!” The constant nods to his past work come off more like self-parody than meaningful references.
Disguised as a thoughtful tale about connection and grief, the game hides a shaky, overstuffed plot where every “philosophical” moment feels hollow—like it came from a random quote generator. Kojima, who once felt ahead of the curve, now seems like he’s just talking to himself, using a star-studded cast to deliver bizarre monologues in beautiful but lifeless environments. In the end, Death Stranding 2 doesn’t really try to move or challenge the player—it feels more like a tribute to Kojima’s own ego: occasionally interesting, but mostly empty once you scratch the surface.
