Vikcen Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Review

Apr 1, 2026
I've already finished it, and what can I say... when you do, you're left with that amazing feeling Metroid games always give you. Wow. You fall in love with it, it's mesmerizing. With that music, Samus's unmatched charisma, and the way you empathize with her loneliness (and it's really impressive that the new characters don't break that, quite the opposite, they actually add to the experience, because you end up connecting with them too), along with its signature blend of exploration, puzzles, and action, which is what makes this series so unique. In the pros i describe is where the game really shines. The setting and atmosphere are still incredible, now more than ever thanks to the audiovisual presentation. In that sense, it's brilliant, especially the soundtrack, which is simply masterful. And for me, the bosses stand out a lot, generally even better than in Metroid Prime, fun, challenging, and spectacular. That said, I don't agree with the criticism of the desert area. Based on what I'd heard, I was expecting it to be terrible, but quite the opposite, I found it really fun. It never gets boring or tedious, and let's be honest, the bike is freaking awesome, haha. Not just because of that, but also because of how it's integrated into the different regions, which I wasn't expecting either. For me, it's always a positive when the series tries to reinvent itself a bit so it doesn't always feel the same, because that would be worse (even if more conservative players might enjoy it less). I honestly had a great time exploring it. It doesn't get in the way, if anything, it keeps things fresh, and the variety is appreciated since you don't spend too long there anyway. And as for the NPC sequences... honestly, I just don't understand all that negative criticism. You really empathize with these characters, and that's greatly appreciated from a narrative standpoint. In conclusion, for me this is one of those games that deserves a spot among the most underrated in video game history. It once again proves that comparisons can be unfair. We should enjoy games more and analyze them less, because this is still pure Metroid Prime. And honestly, if you're on the fence, don't hesitate, you're missing out on another gem. I'm sure more than one person trying this series for the first time will fall head over heels for the unique gameplay Metroid Prime offers with this game. PLEASE CAN I GET AN AUTOGRAPH?? Pros: 1. Bosses and mini-bosses, some of the best I’ve ever played, not just within the Metroid series. 2. Classic Metroid gameplay, enhanced by the new mechanics. 3. Visually and artistically stunning. 4. The soundtrack. 5. Unique Metroid-style atmosphere, puzzles, and exploration (scanning, collecting every item, etc.). Cons: 1. The final region might feel a bit disappointing, because from a progression point of view, ideally the design of the scenarios should improve, culminating in the best scenario, but the opposite happens, more was expected. That said, some players may appreciate its narrative-driven approach. 2. Inconsistent difficulty: after a fantastic and challenging start, it gradually becomes easier, partly because Samus grows stronger as she acquires new weapons, upgrades, and items.
