volksell9 Crimson Desert Review

Graphics are obviously insane, everyone knows that. But ngl, the thing people are MASSIVELY sleeping on is the sound design. It's genuinely some of the best I've ever heard in a game. Please, I'm begging you, use headphones or earbuds. Don't be the guy running this through a $10 Bluetooth speaker — you're robbing yourself. Exploration goes hard. Combat goes hard. The combat freedom alone is beyond what I thought was possible — you can commit crimes, terrorize NPCs, bully villagers... the whole thing. If you're a Skyrim fan, just get it. Skyrim starts looking like a tech demo by comparison. I have 300+ hours in BotW and every complaint I had about that game just... doesn't exist here. The UI has a learning curve, ngl (it's still kinda rough tbh), but you adjust within a few hours. And Pearl Abyss patches fast — like, that's literally their thing — so I'm not sweating it. Story expectations? Keep them low. BotW's story was "princess kidnapped, go save her," and we all loved it anyway. Red Desert's early story has some pacing issues too, but it's really not a dealbreaker at all. I genuinely cannot stop thinking about this game. It's living rent-free in my head 24/7. I'm having dreams about exploring and fighting in this world. And it's not just me — every streamer I've seen has the exact same unhinged reaction. To everyone saying "if it doesn't hook you in 2 hours it's bad" — Game of Thrones was honestly kind of a slog through episode 6 or 7. Then it became one of the greatest shows ever. Does that make it trash? Some experiences need time to open up. Red Desert is absolutely one of them. There's genuinely nothing else like this game right now. Easy recommendation.
