ZenK Cyberpunk 2077 Review
Dec 19, 2024
Cyberpunk 2077 was a monumental disappointment in 2020. After the masterpiece that was The Witcher 3, CD Projekt had earned the trust of players, but the result fell far short of expectations. The story, which was marketed as a deep narrative RPG, feels more like a bad American action movie, severely lacking nuance and fine writing.
The game delivers a visually polished AAA experience but lacks depth. For an RPG, it hits rock bottom in terms of meaningful choices and player engagement, especially compared to titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, The Witcher 3, or Elden Ring. Immersive aspects like cars, the apartment, or even life in Night City hold no real significance, and the game clumsily tries to imitate GTA without its richness.
The gameplay and level design quickly become repetitive, and despite two decent boss fights (Adam Smasher and the Arasaka ninja), 100 hours of gameplay offer very few memorable moments. In the end, Cyberpunk 2077 failed to deliver on its promises and remains a massive letdown for fans of narrative RPGs.
