Zero Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Review

Aug 4, 2025
At least they stayed true to the original... by keeping every single bug intact. They even added some new ones to make sure. Honestly I'd call it more of a reskin rather than a remaster, mechanically very little has changed. The original was an amazing game, but it definitely had its issues (such as bad collision leading to being flung around by things happening over a meter away or getting stuck on invisible barriers when trying to jump over things, or voice lines playing at weird times that don't make sense or repeating themselves) and with a remaster that costs £45 brand new I expected to see some of those fixed. Instead we get exciting new features like portions of the environment going missing, leading to floating rocks and tree platforms, and a magical flying guard above one of the gates to Meridian. Luckily most of the new bugs are purely visual, but considering that the main (and honestly only) appeal to the remaster is the graphics, I really can't reccomend buying this if you already have the original. If the older graphics were what was putting you off and you're willing to deal with some moments of broken immersion via floating or invisible bits of environment every now and then, go for it.
