zero_rmd Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Review
Sep 21, 2026
As someone who has played the original Trails in the Sky SC, this remake is pretty much everything I could have asked for. What I love most is that Falcom clearly understands that SC doesn't need to be reinvented. The story, characters, and overall experience that made the original so special are still here, but the presentation and combat have been brought up to modern standards.
I especially love what they did with the Craft and S-Craft animations. They aren't just upgraded versions with bigger numbers—they actually feel like new, more impactful attacks. It's such a small detail, but seeing these familiar moves given this much attention makes the battles feel surprisingly fresh.
The new Brave Rush system is another addition I really enjoy. Even though it's not a massive change to the combat system, it makes battles feel noticeably faster and more dynamic than the 1st Chapter remake. It gives the combat a little more momentum without losing what makes the original turn-based system so satisfying.
After spending so many years with the original SC, I didn't expect a remake to make me this excited to replay it. Yet here I am, having an absolute blast. This feels less like Falcom trying to replace the original and more like them giving one of my favorite Trails games the treatment it deserves.
