64hoops Halo: Campaign Evolved Review

Aug 1, 2026
This is absolutely a by the books remake of combat evolved, for better or worse. The little changes they made to the base campaign (Outside of graphics and combat) are a mixed bag, which hampers the experience and has you questioning why it took so long to make this. The bonus missions don’t answer that question, as they’re basically two hours of the worst Halo you’ve ever played, with dialogue that feels so out of place for a Master Chief lead story (Also the time period that the bonus missions take place in the Halo timeline doesn’t make any sense…. how can these missions take place two years before Combat Evolved BUT it’s after the fall of reach??? WHAT??) If the bonus missions are an indication of what Halo Studios is planning to do with a potential sequel, then I would strongly suggest the studio shuts down and the franchise gets handed to a team who actually knows what they’re doing. I’m really tired of Xbox’s biggest franchise being consistently mistreated and Microsoft not giving a darn about it. So overall, the actual remake is okay….. but the strengths of this game are clearly from Bungie 25 years ago…. not from Halo Studios. Basically you’re playing a new version of Combat Evolved, so you’re going to have a good time nonetheless. 6/10
