The creative merging of recent open world entries and traditional top-down adventuring is brilliant. Being able to "collect" every monster in the game and many other items creates such a wonderful experience full of opportunities to uniquely make your way through any challenge. I really felt like I was playing

Soooooooo close to a masterpiece. The story leaves a little bit to be desired. The world looks and feels interesting, but the villain's motives and the explanation for why there is turmoil just didn't really make a lot of sense to me. Every other aspect of this is GOTY-worthy stuff.
