CommandCloud3 Red Dead Redemption Review
Jun 2, 2025
If you have played Red Dead Redemption 2, you know it's a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption. And this is a game that is absolutely worth playing after you have finished Red Dead Redemption 2 as it continues the story of John Marston, with plenty of excellent missions. The story of this game is much shorter than in the 2nd game and there are also much fewer random events, but even if Red Dead Redemption doesn't quite reach the heights of the 2nd game, it still remains a classic Western video game that should be played. The combat isn't quite as refined as the 2nd game, but is still great fun. And the open world also looks like an authentic version of the Wild, Wild West. There are also more cowboy duels than in the 2nd game, which add to its appeal as a Western game. And the story of John fighting for his family is a very solid story, but be prepared to handle the emotional ending, which is one of the most memorable moments in video game history. There are also a variety of mini games, such as Horseshoes, Liar's Dice, Arm Wrestling, Poker, Blackjack, and Five Finger Filet. The first three were not in Red Dead Redemption 2, and they are all worth playing to get an authentic Western experience. Red Dead Redemption may show its age in some regards, but much like its successor, it will go down as a classic Western experience in gaming history. Plus, it doesn't fail in its ultimate mission: providing a fun, Western cowboy experience. 90/100
