8.5 / 10.0 - Black Myth: Wukong
Sep 4, 2024

Black Myth: Wukong could mark a major turning point in the history of Chinese video games. With stunning visuals and intriguing ideas inspired by Chinese mythology, developer Game Science has succeeded in creating a vibrant and visually stunning world that makes excellent use of Unreal Engine 5. The game offers a grand adventure filled with challenging and thrilling moments, along with unforgettable epic battles. However, the storytelling approach, repetitive gameplay mechanics, and a few technical flaws prevent Black Myth: Wukong from being a fully polished experience.

9 / 10.0 - SCHiM
Jul 15, 2024

What’s great about indie titles is that they often bring fresh ideas that are increasingly rare in today’s gaming industry, especially from major publishers. SCHiM might be the latest example proving that new concepts can lead to truly enjoyable experiences—when executed properly. With simplicity and elegance, SCHiM delivers a fun platforming adventure built on creative and original mechanics. We hope to see more of this, though ideally with a higher difficulty level to add a greater sense of challenge.

There’s no doubt that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II surpasses Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice in most aspects. From its bold take on an emotional story with powerful moments and a unique direction, it delivers an unprecedented level of precision in portraying psychosis. The experience dives deep into the psyche, supported by masterfully implemented spatial audio that enhances the core theme, alongside stunning, hyper-realistic visuals. However, some design choices—along with the lack of innovation in combat mechanics and the repetition of familiar puzzle designs—are areas that could have benefited from more refinement. Overall, Hellblade II is a visually cinematic journey well worth experiencing, though it does feel far too short.

Our journey with Rise of the Ronin was far from enjoyable. Despite the excellent implementation of the combat system and the thrill of its boss battles, the poor graphics and reliance on tired, repetitive level design within a lifeless open world drained any hope we had for the game. Ultimately, it stands out as one of the most disappointing PlayStation exclusives of the past decade.

Despite the negative campaign that surrounded Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League before its release, the final version far exceeded our expectations. As a long-awaited and free return, Silent Hill: The Short Message delivered on expectations with a story true to the spirit of the Silent Hill series, featuring well-crafted environments and a good variety in music. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora feels more like a simulation of Na’vi life than a true exploratory adventure. It had the potential to be exceptional, thanks to its stunning realisation of the world of Pandora. However, the shallow story, repetitive mission design, and poorly implemented navigation system turned it into a missed opportunity.

6.5 / 10.0 - Quantum Error
Oct 30, 2023

Quantum Error managed to present an intriguing story, but its impact would have been far greater had it been adapted into a cinematic work rather than a video game. Despite featuring some exciting ideas, it falls into several pitfalls. It’s a clearly ambitious project, but one that ultimately suffers from limited resources — had those been available, the game could have delivered a much stronger and more refined experience.
