If you are a HeroQuest fan and you have a couple of friends to throw yourselves into the adventure with, do not think twice and buy it right away. It proves fun, replayable, long-lasting enough for the price, and extremely well crafted in its mechanics, which will not leave you wrestling with decision paralysis but instead push for immediate action without too much ceremony.

If Sonic Wings always had a 2D style with sprites that were not outstanding but at least pleasant, here the decision was to throw it all away and move to an anonymous 3D/2.5D look. Had the style been able to make up for the graphical shortcomings, we would be talking about a completely different game. Unfortunately, though, Sonic Wings Reunion is neither Ikaruga nor Under Defeat, coming across as generic in its enemy design and only partly redeeming itself with the design of a few bosses.

If the platforming is not among the best and the hitboxes do rather as they please, Psycho Dream remains highly fascinating, above all where its story is concerned, never hinted at in the game itself yet reflected in the level design and in a progression that culminates in a final boss set to a chiptune version of Schubert's Ave Maria.

If we bear in mind that this is a low budget production, it is clear that the money went first and foremost into making a fighting game that would be playable in a competitive setting. To rack up higher scores, you’ll need to build your “chain,” displayed on the left side of the screen, collect the golden medals dropped by enemies, activate the Hyper gauge at the right moment, and, of course, collect the bee icons hidden throughout the game’s levels.

Where Feudal Bros Tonosama #1 truly shines is neither in its gameplay nor its story, but in the hilarious absurdity that permeates not only the main characters but the enemies as well.
