I find myself wondering why Rogue Eclipse hasn’t been released in Early Access. It seems clear to me that there are several aspects of the game that still need to be revisited and brought together to make the overall experience more cohesive and solid. At the moment, I can only recommend it to those who are really hungry for roguelikes and fans of space adventures.

Whether you’ve played Truxton or not, Truxton Extreme is a must-have addition to any STG enthusiast’s library. Looking at the first screenshots, I never would have expected to be this positive about a 3D shmup, but I’ve had to completely reconsider my initial impression. It’s an almost perfect game, and its execution on Switch 2 is absolutely flawless.

Revelations is an excellent expansion that shakes things up and gives Doom: The Dark Ages players new mechanics to experiment with when it comes to slaughtering demons. Combined with the main campaign, this DLC makes for a more substantial and varied experience, bringing back some of the mobility from Doom Eternal that had been somewhat missing.

Geppy-X has a deeply nostalgic feel and retains its magical warmth even after more than 25 years. It’s a fun, heartfelt game designed purely to entertain: it never desperately chased trends, never watered itself down, and never lost its identity. Today, just as back then, it feels like a comforting pat on the back that says, “Yes, you’ve grown up, but deep down you still love giant robots combining and fighting against evil.”

A highly recommended game for anyone who enjoys swashbuckling adventures set in a high-fantasy world. There’s plenty to read and lots of choices to make; the dice won’t always be in your favor, and you’ll often lose battles, but there’s no need to worry. As in any good gamebook, you can simply “rewind time” a little to return to an earlier point in the adventure and make a different decision.

If you’ve only played the more recent Tekken games and have never taken a look at the original, the Arcade Archives 2 version is truly the perfect way to rediscover the series’ roots, especially considering its relatively affordable price. Even those who aren’t particularly fond of fighting games will probably have heard of the Iron Fist Tournament at least once, and this is the perfect opportunity to see where it all began.

You don’t need to have played the original Formation Z to appreciate this remake and, despite its simplistic formula and dated approach, it’s still an enjoyable shoot ’em up that makes no attempt to reinvent the wheel. The price may be a little steep for what it offers, but genre diehards can consider picking it up without too many regrets.

If you’re really in the mood for some R-Type, you’d be better off picking up R-Type Dimensions EX, which includes remakes/remasters of the first two games. R-Type Dimensions III was launched in a somewhat premature state, with some serious issues in terms of communication with the audience, leaving fans expecting to find both a new 3D version and the classic experience in all its glory.

The only type of player who should consider buying Traysia is someone who enjoys retro experiences regardless of how dated they may feel today. European players never had the chance to play it on the Mega Drive back in the ’90s, so if you’ve been longing to finally experience it, you can jump in without hesitation. If you’re determined to play every JRPG ever made, by all means, go ahead and pick up Traysia. Otherwise, there are far better options in Ratalaika’s catalog and at a similar price point.

A must-buy for anyone looking for an original and perfectly polished experience. The adventure itself lasts no more than 10 hours, but completing the game unlocks a new weapon, a new mode, an additional difficulty level, and, of course, the inevitable New Game+. As a result, there’s enough content for at least 25 hours if you want to experience everything the game has to offer.

Calm and measured, Starfield is unfortunately a less impactful journey than the adventures of the Dragonborn, and it’s disappointing to see its sense of epic scale sacrificed on the altar of realism. Setting aside the aspects that drag the experience down, there are still some enjoyable elements to be found in Starfield, and some players will undoubtedly appreciate it more than others.

I’d be inclined to recommend it to fans of the anime and manga who feel they can stomach a game that has aged poorly, but I’m not sure how much love for Hojo’s work can really justify paying the aforementioned price, which is simply too high for what’s on offer.

Although I consider myself a true retro enthusiast, I’ll admit that I had barely even heard of half of the games featured here, and I had played fewer than a third of them in the past. As a result, it was genuinely interesting to fire up these titles from the Cenozoic era. It may not live up to the third collection in terms of the overall quality of its games, but it does contain a few gems that are sure to surprise you. From a preservation standpoint, it’s definitely worth the price of admission.

The collection is primarily aimed at Marvel superhero fans, especially those who grew up with these games and still feel nostalgic for titles from more than 30 years ago. Retrogamers who aren’t particularly invested in US comics can also give it a shot, since it still includes six games at a relatively affordable price. Younger players who are fans of the superhero genre, however, should proceed with caution, as X-Men: The Arcade Game may well be the only title in the entire collection they’ll genuinely enjoy.

There’s really no reason to play John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando instead of Helldivers 2, Warhammer: Vermintide, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, or even either of the two Left 4 Dead games. The game works well enough in its individual parts, but an overly flat and generic design, combined with sprawling maps and a considerable amount of gameplay repetition, prevents it from really taking off.
