A roguelike FPS that attempts to bring the formula of Croteam’s classic series into a new format, with only partial success. Given its relatively modest launch price, Serious Sam: Shatterverse can still provide some fun, particularly thanks to its faithfulness to the mechanics of the original series. However, its genuinely unappealing visual style can be quite hard on the eyes.

So, if you’ve been looking for a great vampire-themed RPG since the days of the underrated Vampyr, you absolutely shouldn’t miss The Blood of Dawnwalker. I find myself wondering why Rogue Eclipse hasn’t been released in Early Access. It seems clear to me that there are several aspects of the game that still need to be revisited and brought together to make the overall experience more cohesive and solid. At the moment, I can only recommend it to those who are really hungry for roguelikes and fans of space adventures.

Revelations is an excellent expansion that shakes things up and gives Doom: The Dark Ages players new mechanics to experiment with when it comes to slaughtering demons. Combined with the main campaign, this DLC makes for a more substantial and varied experience, bringing back some of the mobility from Doom Eternal that had been somewhat missing.

I’d be inclined to recommend it to fans of the anime and manga who feel they can stomach a game that has aged poorly, but I’m not sure how much love for Hojo’s work can really justify paying the aforementioned price, which is simply too high for what’s on offer.

There’s really no reason to play John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando instead of Helldivers 2, Warhammer: Vermintide, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, or even either of the two Left 4 Dead games. The game works well enough in its individual parts, but an overly flat and generic design, combined with sprawling maps and a considerable amount of gameplay repetition, prevents it from really taking off.

Resident Evil: Requiem is a high-quality, polished title that manages to be enjoyable both as a survival horror experience and as an action game. If you haven’t played the recent entries or remakes but want to give Requiem a try, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed by the overall experience. Just be prepared for some drastic shifts between the sections featuring Grace and Leon, as well as some inevitable confusion when it comes to the series’ lore.

Nioh 3 is definitely a more action-oriented game and less of a Soulslike than its predecessors, thanks to the new Ninja mode and the open areas, which give the experience a significant boost. I believe ARPG fans really shouldn’t miss it. Team Ninja’s latest effort perfectly blends adrenaline-fueled action with character build customization, featuring refined gameplay that now feels like it has reached the series’ peak.

Its perhaps overly short running time aside, Neon Inferno is a run and gun of the highest order, and it deserves credit for bringing the old Cabal-style mechanics back to our screens. Rogue Factor set out to bring ideas and inspirations together, giving the game enough personality to set it apart from other action-adventures. You reach the end credits carried along all the same by the atmosphere and the strong themes, as well as by the curiosity to find out how the story turns out. The trip is not always a pleasant one, though, and more often than not it proves decidedly hard going.

One of the game's trade-offs lies precisely in managing the Alters. They have needs of their own and, since they represent different "realities" and sides of Jan's own personality, they will not necessarily get along. In a sort of distorted, emotionally brutal version of The Sims, The Alters pushes us to keep an eye on our clones' moods, trying to meet their requests and keep conversations positive.

Obsidian deserves a lot of credit for crafting areas filled with elevation changes, caves, and spectacular vistas, all of which look even more impressive thanks to ray tracing. The cities are teeming with NPCs, and while interaction with them is fairly limited, their presence helps create a vibrant and believable atmosphere.
