8 / 10.0 - Flat Heroes
Aug 17, 2018

What I'm trying to say is that Flat Heroes is a game that all Switch owners should have in their library. It's a fantastic experience that I will be playing for months to come.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker highlights one of the best secondary characters in the Super Mario universe, and gives him a stellar adventure. Fans of the Wii U version should pick it up for the portable experience and extra levels while those who didn't play the game in 2014 will find a lot to love. It's another fantastic addition to the continually growing Switch library, and I can't wait to see what Nintendo does with Captain Toad in the future. I had a blast with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Hopefully, this is not the last time we see the titular hero. He can easily go on more adventures, and I'd love to be along for every single one of them.

8 / 10.0 - Bomber Crew

Fans of strategy, simulation, and World War 2 games will find a lot to love. It's a game that asks a lot from its players, but trust me, the payoff is worth the price of admission.

Mario Tennis Aces has fantastic gameplay held back by barebones content and not much customization. While the Adventure Mode is entertaining and full of unique challenges, the other modes are quite dull.

7.5 / 10.0 - Tesla vs Lovecraft
Apr 11, 2018

Tesla Vs. Lovecraft is the type of game that someone comes up with, and thinks "this will never work." The premise is ludicrous, and shouldn't end up being a cohesive experience. Fortunately, this top-down shooter is a blast to play. It's fast-paced, hectic, difficult, fun-to-play, and ultimately, rewarding.

6.5 / 10.0 - Rogue Trooper Redux
Oct 20, 2017

Fans of the original game and the comic book series will have a lot of fun. There's no denying the impact that Rogue Trooper has had on the modern shooter; the game just didn't leave me with a great impression.

Fans of action games and Nintendo Switch owners should go out and buy Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star. It's one of the best third party games currently on the console. I'll definitely be playing this for the foreseeable future.

8 / 10.0 - Puyo Puyo Tetris
Apr 25, 2017

Puyo Puyo Tetris delivers a wonderfully chaotic experience that combines the fast paced Tetris gameplay and the more strategic Puyo Puyo formula that has been a staple of the franchise since its 1991 debut. As someone who has been a fan of Tetris since I was a kid with a Game Boy, the thought of playing a new iteration of the popular franchise on Nintendo's Switch made me anxious. What makes Sega's reimagining so memorable is the inclusion of the Puyo Puyo gameplay.

7 / 10.0 - Axiom Verge
Sep 1, 2016

Axiom Verge is a game that will certainly please fans of the Metroid franchise. The entire experience is an homage to the classic video game that often does the right thing. While there are so many instances of greatness found throughout the 6-7 hour campaign, problems dealing with some of the core features of the genre hinder the overall experience. Backtracking is frustrating, the bosses are simplistic, constantly respawning enemies make for some tedious sections, and the narrative isn't engaging at all. Axiom Verge is sprinkled with fantastic ideas and concepts, but doesn't fully capture the greatness that its capable of.
