Steve Wright's Reviews
This sequel is far more than a fighter. It's a love letter to DC's heroes and villains
Snipperclips requires thought, co-ordination and timing in a combination that means friendships will be tested.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is solid and enjoyable, with small tweaks that mean it easily surpasses the Wii U's original release. Should you get a Switch for it? Yes. Yes you should — especially if you've got friends who're up for a race themselves.
This one's a no-brainer, from fans of the original games to those looking for amazing platformers – Crash has it all.
It uses humour that kids will appreciate, but parents and adult gamers will get more from. Best yet, it doesn't hold your hand, demanding a carefully-planned strategy to accomplish your goals.
It's a solid, emotional romp filled with challenge and scares alike. It's certainly recommended.
Consider this an earnest recommendation: go and expand your horizons with Discovery Tour. You won't be disappointed.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is more of the same Tomb Raider experience we've known since 2013, and that's precisely why you should be making the trek to Paititi.
Once you get the hang of it, Guacamelee 2 really is for everyone — challenging, but not too challenging
Gears 5 has some great innovations, held back behind the same ol'.
Afterparty should be commended for its diabolical sense of humour and elegantly crafted conversations. While it’s definitely the wrong time of year for additional playthroughs, I’m most certainly coming back when I find myself with some precious free time, slamming down some different drinks and picking new decisions just to see how things will play out in my newly-created alternate timeline.
Definitely a game that needs to be experienced rather than described
While it’s great on your own, I’d imagine that those that can play the likes of Overcooked with loved one without wanting to murder them will be right at home.
If you enjoy board games, card games or dice games and own a Nintendo Switch, this one’s really a no-brainer.
Long story short, make Microsoft Flight Simulator whatever you want it to be — it can handle it.
Simply put, It’s About Time manages to capture the feeling of old school, challenging Crash games of old while adding a modern spin to increase enjoyability for those of us who don’t enjoy bashing our heads against a brick wall when difficulty skyrockets. It’s full of quirkiness, humour, and is a worthy sequel in comparison to Naughty Dog’s previous outings. Kudos to Toys for Bob.
The bottom line is that Overwatch is easy to pick up and understand, and amazingly fun to play.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World The Game Complete Edition is perfect for fans of the original game, the Scott Pilgrim franchise itself or fans of beat ’em ups. It’s available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4, PS5 and Switch from 14 January. Priced at $22.95 AUD, you can’t go wrong.
I couldn’t help but giggle at its stupid jokes and wackiness.
This simple change to the formula equates to a tremendous evolution, one that weaves a storyline in with its teachings rather than simply having you plod along from point to point hitting the A button. Danny Wallace returns as the Assassin Shaun Hastings, and while he doesn’t provide voice-over for every single point on the map, his occasional inclusion is always most welcome. Ubisoft includes imagery from museums as well as its own concept art and research together with images straight out of Shutterstock to create what’s undeniably a unique experience. It’s not perfect by any stretch — accessing the map caused my PC to chug and there’s a bunch of pop-in and flickering when it comes to NPCs. That said, the issues were fairly minor and didn’t detract from the overall experience too much.
