A brave vision that communicates a unique message —almost anachronic—. In a sea of contemporary explosions, noise and violence, The Last Guardian is a pause that contributes to videogames with something special despite some design annoyances.

9.3 / 10.0 - Gears of War 4
Oct 6, 2016

After this marathon analysis, we can conclude that Gears of War 4 is a great content package and, beyond the quantity, it boasts a lot of quality. We are amazed at The Coalition's ability to substantially renew each game mode in this installment. While the campaign has its ups and downs and downsides, the reality is that the experience itself feels solid and polished.

9.3 / 10.0 - INSIDE
Jul 4, 2016

Inside is original, meticulous, aesthetically flawless with its chiaroscuro, depth, photography, sound design, and gameplay. I would have loved for its mechanics to be fully developed. However, he earned a deserved place in the best of the year thanks to all his virtues. It is strange to discover enjoyment in what terrifies us and generates anxiety, but this game manages to generate emotions through not only its dark context, but with its mechanics. Few titles manage to do it. Inside succeeds in producing a fascination for the unspeakable. It is almost like the irresistible attraction to observe the forbidden, the obscene or the sacred.

‎Uncharted 4‎‎ is the best Indiana Jones game ever made.‎

Playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was difficult. Perhaps this is the most complicated review I have ever done. The game carries so much sense for the franchise and the industry that it is impossible to be indifferent to external factors. Still, it feels like the franchise has always aspired to be this installment: in each mission, a deep and complex infiltration puzzle; in each boss, a challenge; in each enemy, the opportunity to strengthen yourself; in each shot, hope; in every word, almost 30 years of relentless creativity. This game is massive, complex, challenging, deep, ambitious, innovative. More than a simple video game, it is a life of devotion to a discipline.

Nostalgia and affection for a classic like Gears of War is powerful. The aesthetics, music, and gameplay of this title largely defined the industry. Even if I put all of that aside, this is a stellar, solid, fun video game that offers tons of content and hours of healthy entertainment. If you have never played this game, the purchase is a must. If you are a veteran, I promise you will not regret returning to Sera and exploring its ruinous beauty. You will play with a smile from ear to ear when remembering so many epic moments. Thank you, The Coalition.

The title represents a good opportunity for veterans to rediscover this classic, while purists who don't know it yet may want to enjoy the original experience first. More than a reissue, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is an interpretation, an interesting revision that no player should miss. Even with a polygon mask and slight adjustments, looking underneath it reveals an unlikely adventure, a brooding glee that is unmistakably a reflection of another era of game design. Visiting Termina means leaving the epic plains of Ocarina of Time to descend into unique introspection. Welcome to the carnival.

‎Strangely poignant and profound, ‎‎Grim Fandango Remastered‎‎ is a well-deserved return to an adventure that fans of this genre cannot miss. Far from the easy tears and technical expertise of ‎‎The Walking Dead,‎‎this title is a distinguished example of a time when updating a flawed release was much more complicated. Original, fun and indispensable if you like well-written scripts in video games, we are happy to remember ‎‎Grim Fandango.‎‎ If you've never played it, take ‎‎it,‎‎this is your chance to enjoy it.‎

‎In the end, a ploy or not to patch a sparse line of software, ‎‎The Last of Us: Remastered‎‎ is a new version of one of the best titles of the previous generation and we must judge it by that and not by whether some players already finished it on another console. In this regard, I remember that as I walked through their desolation I saw here and there American flags flying in a carefree relent: there will be people, like me, who will buy this magnificent game a second time; after all, it's easier to imagine the end of the world than capitalism, I thought.‎

9.4 / 10.0 - Mario Kart 8
May 21, 2014

‎Mario Kart 8‎‎ is a return to the root of the franchise: short tracks full of curves that demand skill and a total memorization of each of its details and shortcuts. Over the years, the careers of this series were filled with small tasks to accomplish; they are stimuli with a more powerful brain massage effect than a sudoku.‎

‎It is, after all, an amalgam of the franchise's nearly 3 decades of history. I long ago remember comparing ‎‎Zelda‎‎ to Mount Fuji, one of the favorite studio objects of the painter Hokusai, who drew hundreds of variations of the mountain without exhausting its complexity. At the end of ‎‎A Link Between Worlds,‎‎I fondly imagined the Nintendo EAD Group No. 3 rehearsing different perspectives on that beloved object we call Zelda. The result is nostalgia and novelty, a charming contradiction, the rewriting of an unmissable myth.‎

8.7 / 10.0 - Rayman Legends
Sep 10, 2013

Rayman Legends is great because it explores pretty much every major variation on its main game system. Except for the Murfy and water scenes (we'll talk about that later), the control scheme is always the same, no matter which character you use. Hitting, jumping, gliding, and running are basic skills. In platforming cutscenes, Rayman won't get any new skills, so the development focus was mostly on level design (and it shows). What does this mean to us? That each of your worlds must be memorable and that we will perform a multitude of different tasks with the same control scheme.

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze remains an excellent platformer and one of Retro Studio's greatest works. While all its additions may not be enough to justify a second time purchase, Tropical Freeze is a must play for all Switch owners that never the chance to experience the Wii U version.
