7 / 10.0 - Surviving Mars
Mar 15, 2018

Surviving Mars does not speak to the casual gamer, but it's also a good city-builder. Its creators Haemimont Games deeply love science-fiction, and they demonstrated it by giving their game a variety of scenarios together with its citybuilder nature. It deserves time to be appreciated, but seeing your colony become operative is always a satisfaction. Veterans could find a relatively new way to see science-fiction on their genre. Due to rigid gamepad controls, newcomers may consider the PC.

7.5 / 10.0 - Dynasty Warriors 9
Feb 13, 2018

Dynasty Warriors 9 is far from perfection. It has technical issues, its gameplay needs time to be appreciated and seems a bit lazy when he must do something different from action. But it's also powerful and passionate, strictly following Guanzhong's original Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Perhaps the limited open-world system will seem a missed occasion, but the advice we can give is to give it a chance, and to do it out of any preconception.

8 / 10.0 - Okami HD
Dec 11, 2017

Okami HD re-enacts on PS4 and Xbox One one of the most courageous and inspired game of the PS2 generation. An adventure that fuses Shinto mythology and and Japanese folklore into a "Zelda" structure, to develop a great painted legend. If the brush-based gameplay has aged very well, others minigames and some camera angles make evident it's a PS2 game. If you never play Okami on previous consoles, you should buy it at once; if you already possess it, it will attract you only if you're a collector.

L.A. Noire is a masterpiece. It deserves this title because it refuses the grandeur of other Rockstar games to obtain a more reflective and investigative gameplay. The game is an actually detective story, and we can be only glad that we have it also on PS4 and XOne. By the way this port keeps all technical issues of the PS3-360 generation, and it does not feature any extra content. If you haven't played it yet before, you should take it at once, but if you bought it back in 2011, you'll be attracted by it only if you're a collector or a 4K lover.

7.5 / 10.0 - ECHO
Nov 5, 2017

ECHO is a good videogame debut: it's a fantascientific monologue about solitude represented like a theatre play. Its "scene" is highly detailed, but the game is not very technically optimized. The gameplay is deeply based on stealth, but sometimes it lacks of classical mechanics of the genre. Its minimal cast provides a different vision of the science-fiction future, and it's recommended mainly to those who like such an intimistic vision. Others may consider to ponder about.

Collar X Malice is a well-crafted visual novel, with thought estetics and elaborated plot. The story itself is deep with lot of possibile interpretations. But this game also features all limits of its genre: dialogues are often too long and there are design limits that are not common to the contemporary audience. Those will be able to overcome these flaws will discover a deep story with great replayability.

7.5 / 10.0 - Matterfall
Aug 15, 2017

Matterfall is a nostalgic rievocation of Nineties' coin-ops. It's an hybrid shooter, that combines side-scrolling with flying sections and platforming. It throws the player into the gameplay without premises, making him to survive among aliens, robots and bullet-hell levels. Its challenging gameplay will be a great thing for every person who lived the last coin-op era, but also modern gamers may have the will to try it.
