In the end, Hyrule Warriors is and remains a rather conservative spin-off of the Warriors series that suffers from clear technical flaws. Lots of fireworks, little substance. Fans of the series won't be bothered by this anyway, but Zelda fans should take a closer look to see if this is worth picking up.

All in all, the new release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a great package. One of the most fun Mario-editions in recent history packed in with a helping of new treats, it has something for everyone.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is still one of the most charming games in the Nintendo world, but as a re-release it is by far one of the most unimaginative and loveless projects that has been seen on the Switch so far. If you don't have the title yet, get it. But if you already know Pikmin 3, you should think twice about investing in the deluxe-version.

The game is ideally suited to enthrall the younger generation, but older gamers are not immune to the charm of the idea either. Mario Kart: Home Circuit is a really fun affair that allows Nintendo to play the creative muscles again. Self-made courses, multiplayer functions and, last but not least, the portability of the Switch enable the game to become a toolset with which a creative mind can have a lot of fun.

The focus of 13 Sentinels is the anime-like narrative. Exciting, multi-layered and longlasting, 13 Sentinels manages to enrich the genre of visual novels. Anyone who is in the mood for an end-of-time Japanophile story about gigantic 'Mechs, teenage drama and crazy scifi plots will find what they are looking for in 13 Sentinals Aegis Rim.

10 / 10 - Genshin Impact
Oct 29, 2020

There is no aspect of Genshin Impact that does not impress. A beautiful world, an absolutely bombastic soundtrack that accompanies the player for hours, a dynamic combat system that never gets boring, a game world with dozens of hours of high-quality content: There is hardly a JRPG that can reach this high level. China is entering the game market with a unprecedented load of talent and a completely new commercialization model that will give some triple-A giants a lot to think about. But in the end all of this is irrelevant, because only one thing counts: There has never been so much pure fun for free.

The new Mario Collection is the perfect opportunity for anyone who fancies a bit of nostalgia. Only one last drawback remains: The release is strictly limited both physically and digitally, so you shouldn't take too long to make a decision.

In the end, the whole package is thoroughly fun, but it lacks that certain something that such a title needs to become a retro classic. Nonetheless, the title is worth a recommendation for all those who want to devour a simple, classic platformer.

6 / 10 - Creaks

Creak is probably not the new classic one would expect from this talented studio. Nonetheless, the title combines the most important strengths of Amanita Design and ensures a few hours of entertainment.

Paper Mario: The Origami King does not reinvent anything, relies on proven elements, as one can only wish for in some Nintendo series. The game is entertaining, joyful and a welcome change in a drought year that can't exactly boast numerous releases.

The Wonderful 101: Remastered is and remains an entertaining action platformer that you don't have to take too seriously. You can't relax here, but there are enough brain-less button mashers out there anyway. The port is graphically mediocre and disappointing with countless blurred, pixelated textures, but that shouldn't stop action fans from enjoying the game, especially if they couldn't give the title a chance on the Wii U.

The entertaining quality of Deadly Premonition 2 is beyond any doubt and stands out so much from the monotonous lifeless open world competition that the game easily bypasses any technical doubt and is an absolute cult tip.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition remains a great recommendation for newcomers. Players who have already had the experience a long time ago will find a great opportunity to dive once more into one of the most unforgettable JRPG-worlds that shaped the genre far beyond the Nintendo Platform.

Trials of Mana is one of the finest 16-bit ports that a publisher has ever put together. With a joyfull soundtrack, a well thought-out RPGsystem, a dreamy visual look and replay value that is rarely seen even in contemporary competition, this mid-tier release is much closer to top-tier players like Dragon Quest XII and is worth an uncomromising recommendation.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners would almost be a perfect video game if it weren't for the innumerable technical problems that plagued the game a month after its release. The developers promise progress, but with so many different platforms, it seems difficult to get a complex game like this on track. Therefore, it is not yet clear whether everyone can really enjoy the game at the present time, and intensive research is definitely recommended before purchasing. But when things do go well, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners effortlessly ranks in the top league of VR entertainment and is worth a great recommendation.

10 / 10 - Death Stranding
Jan 4, 2020

Gameplay and storyline complement each other perfectly to form a coherent whole - a feat that Kojima has long striven for, but never quite achieved before. Not least because of this, Death Stranding is a rare masterpiece that will no doubt gain cult status over the years. The quality of the title is beyond any doubt, and although critics will always find flaws, Death Stranding is like a glimmer of hope in the face of an entertainment industry that is so painfully choking from a lack of innovation.
