Rise Of The Ronin is not a missed opportunity but certainly not one of those exclusives that will be remembered for years to come, either. The excellent combat system crafted by Team Ninja, along with an engaging story that is respectful of the historical period used as a setting, make it an enjoyable game and, certainly, capable of beguiling fans of Ronin, Samurai and stories set in ancient Japan. At the same time, however, an obvious inexperience with the reference genre, coupled with an insufficient technical compartment.

Mario VS. Donkey Kong is an excellent re-release capable of properly debuting one of the most distinctive IPs in Nintendo's history. The "portable" nature of the production emerges very strong from the first moments of play, as well as, the moment you sit down in front of a monitor and start playing, the experience loses some of its magic by virtue of a strong redundancy of the proposed situations.

With Star Ocean: The Second Story R, Gemdrops has worked in the round on every aspect of the original 1998 game, giving JRPG lovers an indispensable production that everyone should play at least once.

I have been very conflicted about the damned "little number" to assign to Super Mario RPG, as this remake is an experience that, by some mysterious sorcery, is still very solid in multiple respects and capable of both bringing new players to an increasingly niche genre, appeasing old fans with a remake that does not distort the original work, and offering a very valid, compact and disengaged JRPG to fans of the genre.

Sonic Superstars, net of a few minor smears, is a little gem capable of restoring the two-dimensional series dedicated to SEGA's iconic blue hedgehog to its former glory.

EA Sports WRC is not the miracle we expected from Codemasters but it turns out, nevertheless, to be a very good racing game dedicated to rally full of ups and downs.

UFC 5 is a production that verges, at least in its genre of belonging, on perfection. Were it not for an easily "breakable" combat system as soon as one learns all its nuances, the new iteration of EA's series would show the side of very few smears.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is not only one of the best two-dimensional platformers currently on the market but a must have for all Nintendo Switch owners.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the exclusive that every gaming machine would love to have in its portfolio, as well as the perfect Christmas gift. An accessible, fun game with an undoubtedly appealing character that again succeeds in providing an experience suitable for all ages. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the sequel that Insomniac needed to make, which, while having some flaws, manages to improve on many aspects of the previous games, offering an excellent more of the same that will delight anyone who enjoyed the previous chapters. As scripted, this is not a production that breaks with the past but rather continues a larger project that, without too much doubt, is still far from seeing its end.

Everything works and is fun, the ideas are many, and very interesting, and the general feeling is to find oneself in front of a work done with passion. However, slips on that banana peel called "experience." We would have preferred to be confronted with a Souls-like that was more refined in its foundations and capable of introducing a couple of thick innovations, as opposed to playing a title that errs on the side of presumptuousness in terms of copying FromSoftware's work, causing the many, perhaps too many, ideas it puts forth to falter.

Detective Pikachu: The Return is a sequel that remains too much anchored in the past, fossilizing in a "comfort zone" that returns a production that differs little from its predecessor in terms of novelty.

Phantom Liberty is an expansion that, by itself, manages to make up for the change of plans made by CD Projekt RED by not making the lack of a, future, second expansion felt. Content-wise, it shows itself to be solid.

The Crew Motorfest would be exactly what the series needs to shake off the concept that, nowadays, no longer has a grip on gamers. The very strong inspirations from the Forza Horizon series don't bother and, indeed, create an alternative that would also be viable, and definitely fun, were it not for a dastardly, microtransaction-driven progression.

Lies Of P is the best copy of a FromSoftware-branded SoulsLike currently out there. Anyone in dire need of such a new title, after spending hundreds of hours on Elden Ring and consuming all the productions made by Miyazaki, should not ignore it.

Blasphemous 2 is one of the best metroidvanias currently on the market. Able to shake off the trend of wanting to "copy Hollow Knight," The Game Kitchen's new effort improves on many of its predecessor's flaws and picks up, in a much more convincing way, that heavy legacy left by two-dimensional Castlevanias. Net of a handful of smudges that prevent it from achieving excellence, Blasphemous 2 is a must-have for metroidvania lovers and an excellent entry ticket for novices to the genre.

Let's not beat around the bush, after the highly criticized launch of the fifth chapter, Capcom has learned its lesson and, buoyed by the current period of renewed glory, is launching a street fighter 6 on the market that not only stands as one of the best chapters in the series but, even, as one of the most complete, and best-crafted, fighting games in many years.

Nintendo wanted to push on the accelerator and go all-in. Tears Of The Kingdom succeeds in a feat I thought impossible: improving, expanding, and in some ways overshadowing a production of the caliber of Breath Of The Wild. Explaining in words how this new chapter was able to consistently surprise someone who dissected the previous chapter for hundreds of hours was not easy but, if you are not part of those users who want to look for the rot where there is none, my only advice is to play it, enjoy every inch of it and hope that this new journey never ends. Nintendo has once again set standards for a genre, and never before will it be really hard to top it.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp joins that list of productions whose gameplay has not been affected in the slightest by the passage of time. The two titles made in the early 2000s by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo remain to this day two of the best exponents of the RTS genre even if the "wow effect" that permeated these games more than two decades ago has, of course, subsided by virtue of all that has come after.

Dead Island 2 is a production that focuses everything on immediate and genuine fun. It achieves this by employing superbly crafted world building, immediate and fun gameplay, and a disengaged narrative studded with undoubtedly exaggeratedly characterized characters. While this is a more than convincing restart of a franchise that was now considered dead and buried, some 12-year-old smears remain that will hopefully be cleaned up in a future new chapter in the saga. For the time being, however, all that remains is for me to thank Dambuster for a job well done.
