It was just a real pleasure to get to replay the game again. I loved this the first time around but now I absolutely adore it. All of my main issues have been resolved, the game has aged like a fine wine, and it now looks and plays better than ever. Devil May Cry 5 is now where it always belonged.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is an incredible action game. It's very addictive with an intense combat and the posibility to get more frantic with turbo mode. Graphically it is incredible and the Ray Tracing gives it very good detailed, but its inability to be used with the turbo mode and the new difficulty, again it. Finally, in sound themes it shines with its own light, indeed it earned a nomination for the best soundtrack of the year in 2019. In general, it is a very good game which I recommend anyone who does not have DMC 5, but I advise against to people who they already have it because the innovations in relation to the 2019 edition are insufficient.

An enhanced version of the best hack 'n slash game on the market, with some nice additions that don't necessarily elevate the experience but do enhance it. The only missed opportunity is playable Trish & Lady.

Now leaping over to the next generation, we’re once again revisited by DMC5’s astounding example in presentation and overall design with some additional features for added engagement. This, along with an extension to its already existing campaign makes for Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition an essential for PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X owners.

Last year Capcom brought the next instalment of its DMC series; Devil May Cry 5 to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The fast-paced hack & slash was a big success and brought Devil May Cry back into the limelight. Building on this success Capcom has re-released Devil May Cry 5 as; Devil May Cry 5: Special Editon which is naturally targeted towards the current generation of consoles – Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition adds even more style to what was already an amazing action game. Not everyone may feel inclined to pay for this again especially since Vergil is coming to the older versions as paid DLC. As a huge Devil May Cry fan though I’m very happy with it as the upgrades to the visuals, performance, load times, and additional modes alongside Vergil made me fall in love with this game all over again.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is every bit as good as the original release, if not even more, thanks to the many additions like playable Vergil, Turbo Mode and Legendary Dark Knight difficulty. While ray tracing and DualSense support are not massive game-changers, they round up the package nicely and help making it a worthy purchase for every Devil May Cry fan and for those who did not have yet the pleasure to experience one of the best character action games released in recent years.

Capcom managed to fulfill fans’ biggest requests for DMC5 and also freshen up its overall experience with the inclusion of new modes and visual enhancements. Vergil’s gameplay adds a new layer of excitement to all the demonic destruction thanks to his signature attacks and brand new skills. And getting to play around with his and the original trio’s flashy maneuvers in Turbo and Legendary Dark Knight Mode is an experience you’ll never forget. Having to leave your prior save progress behind and start anew is pretty disappointing, of course. But first-time players and returning veterans will get an equal amount of enjoyment out of this excellent special edition.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition just made my 2019 Game of the Year pick even better. Vergil is arguably now the best character to play in the game, with a playstyle that's fast, aggressive and super-stylish - and best of all, it contrasts beautifully with the core group of characters.

Devil May Cry V debuts on the new consoles with a definitive Special Edition, which confirms its status as the best stylish action of the last generation. The new modes and the presence of Vergil as a playable character are great additions, while the Ray Tracing does not feel like it adds much, and certainly not enough considering it comes at the cost of a slashed frame rate or resolution.

There really isn't a whole lot of new things to say about Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition. It's a stunning game that added a new character, giving players something new to experience, plus various improvements to the overall experience. Ideally, it will be an idea of things to come, over one of the early games that suggested gimmicks were actually features but regardless of the outcome, it's easily one of the most impressive games you can play on PS5 right now.

It's not the most essential purchase, since you will soon be able to buy Vergil as DLC for the original release, but with some new game modes like Legendary Dark Knight difficulty and the new graphical options making the game smoother/prettier than ever before, it's sure to be tempting for fans of the series. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is the ultimate version of Devil May Cry 5. Including all of the additional content released for the original version and more, it makes a great game even better, it’s as simple as that. It’s a shame that ray tracing comes at such a cost when playing at 4K, but it still looks glorious without it, and if you want to make use of Turbo or Legendary Dark Knight Modes they can’t be used in conjunction with it anyway. The real draw for most, though, will be the chance to once again take control of Vergil, and he doesn’t disappoint. If you’ve been itching for more of the high-octane action that only the Devil May Cry series provides, you’d be mad to let Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition pass you by.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is arguably the game Capcom should have always released. While the original was a powerhouse in every sense of the word, its pristine quality simply meant any imperfections were all the more noticeable. Vergil's return rounds out an already tight cast of characters playable with some of the most in-depth combat in the franchise. Turbo mode picks up the pace to challenge a player's physical and mental reflexes on every level. Legendary Dark Knight pushes the power of the PlayStation 5 by rendering large swarms of enemies on-screen, all for the player to kill. Devil May Cry 5 was already one of Capcom's best titles in years, and this Special Edition only elevates it.

Those who haven’t played will get to experience the best this title has to offer while returning fans can push their skills with the Legendary Dark Knight Mode and being able to play as Vergil. As it stands, this is a stupidly gorgeous PS4 game receiving a few new buffs due to the PS5’s hardware, but it’s still the same Devil May Cry 5 from 2019, through and through. It’s still one of the, if not the best hack ‘n’ slash games ever made, however. It’s still the same over-the-top madness I fell in love with last year, so it’s still well worth your time. Aside from the visual upgrade, the Special Edition of the game allows players to play as Vergil, Dante’s brother. While you’d expect a new perspective or shorter storyline from Vergil’s point of the view, it’s basically the same game minus the cinematic cutscenes; same areas, same bosses.

I’ve played every game in this series now and Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition has been the best so far. The variety of gameplay, the over the top stylish action, the amount of customization, and the just sheer fun of how it plays. I had a really good time with the game. That’s before even considering the graphical improvements. I would have liked to see more unique content in the Vergil playthrough, but that’s a minor gripe and his addition to the roster was very welcome.

Capcom lands on next gen with the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 5 and does so with a slightly weak edition as regards the contents: the character of Vergil, also sold separately at the price of 5 euros, certainly brings new life to the gameplay but in addition to this we would have expected to be able to play specific missions for the character or at least to enjoy some more cutscenes. For the rest, the title is always an excellent Japanese hack'n'slash that continues to be one of the best in recent years with amazing gameplay and excellent next-gen quality. If you haven't played Devil May Cry 5 yet, this edition has to be yours.

This game is kind of a rare beast. The gameplay is more accessible than ever, while the story has reached a new plateau on Mount Convoluted. Players who missed it the first time will be thrilled, but even experienced fans will have good reasons to double dip. The features included make this an excellent Special Edition while being a decent PS5 release. I’m not so invested I want to go back and play the games I missed, though I am glad I came back to the series. If smooth gameplay is your yardstick, then this is the definitive version for you. On the other hand, there are better graphical show pieces for the PS5 out there. Even so, I can easily recommend Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition for new and old fans alike.

DMC5SE occupies its own tried and tested safe space within the world of video games. It hasn't really progressed much since 4 and doesn't seem to have broken through any genre-defining boundaries to evolve itself beyond what it already was. As a series, DMC5SE is truly the pinnacle in terms of polish and content but by way of freshening things up: it plays it far too safe and sadly won't really blow your mind.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is not a true remaster, but it does add the graphical niceties associated with games that do get the updated treatment. In this sense, the graphics are enhanced enough to make it look and feel new, while the addition of a bunch of new features and game modes help increase replay-ability. Despite the subtle improvements, and considering how the game has not even been out for a full year, the asking price is a bit of a cheek. While it is 20 dollar’s less than the original $60 USD price tag, it still stings too much for anyone who may have bought the collector’s editions in 2019, thinking they would get free upgrades to the next-gen version (and rightfully so). Qualms about the price notwithstanding, the game is wonderfully executed in both design and narrative. It is a decent sequel to the events of Devil May Cry 4, and a great point of entry for any new fan. The Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition might be the best bang for buck entry as well, though no one will argue that the first three titles are still the strongest.
