Critic Reviews for Don't Be Afraid
Don't Be Afraid 2 is a nerve-inducing puzzle game where the horror is ramped up in every new room, with some smart ideas everywhere.
Don't Be Afraid is a great psychological thriller game that will put you up against formidable enemies in terrifying locations. Though at times the game can be a bit glitchy and the pacing can feel off, Hydra Games did a great job of creating an immersive world for you to explore with memorable characters.
Don't Be Afraid 2 faithfully recreates the first's horrific atmosphere and shifts its focus to escape rooms. More puzzle variety and a grander scope could've elevated the experience, but it's still a worthy pickup for fans of David's story.
Don't be afraid evokes a very good horror atmosphere and will definitely make you scared. If you don't, you'll have a heart attack at least once. The puzzles that await you and the varied selection of monsters are also an advantage. However, sometimes it's harder to move along in the story, so you just walk around and squeeze everything that comes to hand. The game builds up nicely and over time you get really nauseous, either due to the story or the environment, which is sometimes gory, sometimes even brutal. However, we have to criticize it for minor bugs and the fact that the gameplay style is quite repetitive. A huge plus are the alternate endings to the story, which change, and therefore depend very much on how you pay attention to details. Don't Be Afraid is therefore recommended if you want to be scared and get uncomfortable chills.
