Tales of Eternia Remastered shows that the developer knows how to modernize classic entries without losing their magic. The quality-of-life features are sensible and unobtrusive, and the option to switch between the original pixel look and the updated visuals is a welcome touch. Gameplay-wise it has aged well, though fans of modern RPGs may find it a little old-fashioned. Series veterans should absolutely jump in, and JRPG fans in general will get their money’s worth: around 40 hours of playtime plus plenty of side content, backed by one of the stronger soundtracks in the series.

"A classic adventure returns with a polished look" Tales of Eternia Remastered successfully preserves the essence of the original adventure—thanks to its engaging story, deep combat system, and diverse cast of characters—while introducing enhancements that make exploration and battles feel smoother on modern hardware. Despite lingering issues with repetition and limited visual upgrades, features such as adjustable difficulty and progression settings, along with the ability to disable random encounters, make the experience more convenient without compromising its identity. It is a fitting version for fans of classic RPGs, even if it does not offer a complete reinvention.
