Prey starts off very well—brilliantly, in fact—but rather quickly loses its edge and appeal, due to a poorly blended mix of gameplay details, narrative development, and game mechanics. The result is a lingering sense of frustration and disappointment, as if something with great potential slipped through the cracks.
The strongest part
Honestly would be perfect if the combat felt a little less clunky. Everything else about the game is so artistically fantastic, unique and engaging.
Prey has a unique setting, I'll give it that, but there are many detriments. There are also games that have done better, such as Control which has a much more phenomenal combat system and story, or Alien who leans into the horror and sneak mechanics a lot more yet having
Underrated game.
Prey has great level design and such emergent gameplay that it was so fun to play, the atmosphere in the Space ship made for a fine immersive-sim experience, the soundtrack is fits the game so well and exploring the station was a pleasure
